University of California Wide Fundraiser for the Victims of Sri Lanka
CAMPAIGN HAS ENDED
On the morning of Sunday, April 21st, several explosions went off throughout churches and hotels within the Sri Lankan cities of Colombo, Negombo, and Batticaloa. Over 350 deaths and 500 injuries of various ages and backgrounds have been reported. Later that day, another bomb was disposed of near the Bandaranaike airport. On Monday, another blast went off in the capital.
We are Sri Lankan students attending campuses within the University of California: UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Los Angeles, UC Merced, UC Riverside, and UC Santa Barbara. As Sri Lankans, we are all devastated by the recent attacks and aim to come together as a coalition to assist in several tangible ways.
We will be donating to Sri Lanka Red Cross (SLRC) Society in an effort to mitigate the Easter terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka. The project goal of SLRC in response to this horrific event is to “Enhance overall of the Victims of Easter Sunday terror attacks and their family members.” We have directly established relation with SLRC and its honorary secretary.
