The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) (redcross.lk) is the largest humanitarian organization in the island serving people by protecting human lives and dignity overlooking discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions since 1931. The SLRCS was initially formed in 1936 as the Ceylon Central Council Branch of the British Red Cross Society and was subsequently constituted and incorporated as the Ceylon Red Cross Society under the Royal Charter of 1951.
The SLRCS is widely recognized and accepted in the country for Emergency Response, Disaster Recovery (man-made and natural), Resilience Programmes, Community First Aid, Social Inclusion Programmes and Blood Donor Programmes in line with our mission to serve the most vulnerable.
